Blood test clinics reopen at Romsey Hospital

We are pleased to confirm that walk-in blood tests will recommence at Romsey Hospital from 10 July 2018.

The dates and times of the clinics are:

Tuesday               -              9 am to 3 pm with slots available on a ‘first come’ basis

Saturday              -              9 am to 12 noon with slots available on a ‘first come’ basis

(Saturday clinics will not open on Bank Holiday weekends)

In addition, patients registered with a local GP surgery can continue to access pre-booked appointments for blood tests via their own surgery; including appointments available on Saturdays.

Heather Hauschild, Chief Officer of West Hampshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) said: “We are pleased that the walk-in clinics will again be available locally. The CCG remains committed to ensuring access to local services for patients wherever possible”.

The issue arose after the original clinical area at Romsey Hospital became unavailable and the initial alternative area for the provision of the clinics was assessed as too small for the service.

West Hampshire Clinical Commissioning Group, University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (who provide blood test clinics at Romsey Hospital) and Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust (who own Romsey Hospital) have successfully worked together to find a suitable clinic area at Romsey Hospital to enable the clinics to start again.

Patients may access blood tests:

  • via a pre-booked appointment made with their own GP surgery (for blood tests provided either at their own surgery or another local surgery)
  • via attendance at the walk-in clinics again available at Romsey Hospital
