CCG pilots new community heart service

A new cardiology service, in which patients will be seen for heart related conditions closer to home, is beginning to pilot in the Winchester and Andover area.

The new service has started in the Winchester and Andover areas and, if successful, may be made available across the west Hampshire region. This follows feedback from our patients and clinicians throughout the west Hampshire area. We were told that patients and GPs want to have a cardiac service closer to them, shorter wait times and no parking problems when possible.

New Forest GPs launch new ‘get Hampshire walking’ campaign

GPs in the New Forest will be launching a new NHS campaign this Saturday in Lyndhurst to get Hampshire walking.

Meeting at Bolton’s Bench in Lyndhurst on Saturday 15 October at 11.00am, GPs will be joined by colleagues in the NHS and local people to promote the huge health benefits of walking.

GPs are highlighting that sitting for long periods of time can cause premature aging and diseases such as cancer, heart disease, diabetes, dementia and depression. The only thing that can prevent this damage is being more active.
